  • Vic Bondi Returns

    We had such a fabulous time at our release party in March, that when I heard Vic had a new record coming out (on Alternative Tentacles) with a new band to boot, it was a no brainer to invite him back to Van. Sadly, we could not sort out a Victoria show this time, but Vic was happy to accept nevertheless.

    Vic Bondi & His Issues have announced a half dozen shows with Milwaukee’s the crosses this fall, ending with a Gainesville show at The Fest. If you’re old enough to have heard of Die Kreuzen, you may be interested to know that founding member and vocalist, Daniel Kubinski, is also in the crosses. This stuff is not for the faint of heart, so I have an idea that Vic and co will be in rare form by the time they get to Red Gate this November.

    We are super stoked to be supporting Vic on this show, and have roped in Jesse Gander’s band Uptights, and Matt Earle’s new outfit Earmarked for good measure.

    Advance tickets are now on sale, so we hope you’ll help us fill the room for these awesome bands!

  • Anemic Heart

    So while we continue to wait for the last two mixes from Dave, I decided to release another song from the 2011 sessions at Hotel2Tango with Bond Head and Jonathan, two of my former bandmates from Doughboys. This one was mixed by Howard and mastered by Ronan Chris Murphy and is a bit more melancholy and less heavy than the last one. It will also be a digital single, and will be released on January 27th, 2023.

    If you’re a Spotify user, you can pre-save the track here. For the rest of you, I’ll make sure it gets on my bandcamp at some point.

    I also asked RD Cane to take a stab at a video for it, so will be uploading that to the Scamindy Youtube channel in time for the release.

    In the meantime, its -9 here in Vancouver, so I’m going to attempt to shovel out my car so I can get some provisions to get through Christmas!

  • We’re back… kinda

    So fingers crossed we actually are going to play some shows again!

    Our pandemic drought of live rock has been going since Bowie Ball 2020, which is now two years ago officially. We’ve decided to forego that event this year, but have been keeping ourselves busy writing songs by text message (yes iphone voice recorder is the way to go for this), and we’ve actually finished a couple good ones at a legit studio as well, which we’ll debut live in March.

    Our good buddy Chris Walter has been writing up a storm and has asked us to join La Chinga and Rebel Priest for a book launch at Lanalou’s.

    We’ve also been asked to support the Dreadnoughts Punkstravaganza again this year and, public health order willing, that’ll be our first time back at the Rickshaw.
